- גֵּאִיםm. pl. (abstract noun, v. גֵּאֶה; cmp. חַיִים) loftiness, excellence; (in a bad sense) haughtiness. Ḥull.92a (play on ש̇ר̇י̇ג̇י̇ם̇, Gen. 40:10) שלשה ש̇ר̇י̇ ג̇׳ בכלוכ׳ the three princes of excellence (influential patrons of Israel) in every generation (in Palestine under the Roman, in Babylon under the Parthian government).Ber.10b; Yalk. Lev. 616 (ref. to 1 Kings 14:9) א״ת גַּוֶּךָ אלא גֵּאֶיךָ read not gavvekha (thy body), but geekha, thy swelling or pride (applied to taking a meal before prayer), v. גָּאָה.
